The main site for the Boom Effect located on the web at –  http://theboomeffectg.org – Benefit for Tee Morris’s daughter Sonic Boom to help take care of the costs of raising a child alone and give her a brighter future.  The Auction is slated for February 27th 2010 10:00 AM EST to 3:00 PM EST live on Ustream Channel – http://www.ustream.tv/channel/theboomeffect – The Boom Effect- raising money for Sonic Boom’s Future. Nothing can replace her mother, but we’re going to give her options.

If you can’t make the auction you can place Proxy bids on http://theboomeffectg.org or you can leave donations using the Chipin widget located at the main site as well.

Please, if you haven’t taken a look at the site yet please please PLEASE spare a few minutes and check it out and help if you can.

If you check out Sunday’s post it’s a quick mockument of some of the items listed but it is by no means anywhere near a full list, it was just the easiest things to poke fun of for a quick preview.

Tuesday’s Worthy Causes

nce Again it’s time for Tuesday’s Cause –

I’d still like to take a moment to remind everyone that right now there are 2 VERY worthy causes here in our own podcasting community they are the Legal Defense Fund to Help SVAllie with her legal costs from her custody battle to keep the EP (Her daughter the Elf Princess) with her and the Trust for Sonic Boom (SB is Tee Morris’s daughter and recently tragedy struck taking Tee’s Wife Natalie suddenly but you knew that already right?  If not how the heck do you know about me and not Tee?) / The Boom Effect.  Links provided below.

Help out if you can if not with a few $$$ with some encouragement, prayer, or time.

http://brandg.chipin.com/elf-princess-legal-defense

http://teeandserena.chipin.com/sonic-booms-trust / http://www.theboomeffect.org/ The Auction fro the Boom Effect will be this coming Saturday – 2-27-2010 – 10 AM EST to 3 PM EST – You can place a proxy bid at the site or “attend” the live auction via Ustream – http://www.ustream.tv/channel/theboomeffect

But there are a lot of causes out there that we don’t see, children that need a transplant families effected by disaster, and nations effected by even larger disasters.   Take a moment today and pray or send positive thoughts / energy (whatever your “thing” is) and if you got a spare dime chip it in to help a cause, or better yet donate some time to help a cause along or even a shoulder or an ear to someone that is effected by a tragedy.

This week is kind of a hold over from last week.  It’s still cold out there and here’s another solution to help with the homeless issue.  I’d like to talk well type briefly about an organization that has been helping with the homelessness issue for a long time.  Habitat for Humanity.  Here’s a perfect opportunity to get out there and lend a hand.  One of the things I like about this program is that it’s not giving a house away for free, Habitat just doesn’t make any profit on it.  AND the best part is the people that get the house have to bust their ass in helping to build / renovate it and other projects.  Yeah it’s a Christian program and that might turn some of you away right there that have different beliefs, but it’s for a good cause.  And getting out into fresh air and building a house can help get the butt out of the chair and get a little exercise that some people may be languishing they need.  (plus you may learn a few DIY tips to fix things around your own place so next time you don’t need to call a contractor for some of the little things).

For more info about Habitat for Humanity:

Check out the FAQ – http://www.habitat.org/how/factsheet.aspx

And the main site – http://www.habitat.org/

Hit me up at rasplundjr@gmail.com with the Subject Tuesday Cause if you have a cause you want / need me to pimp.  There are plenty of people out there that need a hand, not just a hand out.  See who you can help today.

Thanks for your time today.

8 Questions with Pip Ballantine

It’s Monday again boys and squirrels and other woodland creatures that we cannot mention due to a gag order from PETA ( I swear eat one fried platypus and they brand you for life….) and no I don’t mean it ‘s time for it to put the lotion in the basket or it gets the fire hose (That was yesterday… erm nevermind) It’s time for another round of 8 Questions – This week we feature Philippa “Pip” Ballantine – The Podiosphere’s favorite saucy flightless bird or small furry banana strawberry thing you choose.

1 ) What’s one thing we Americans take for granted about New Zealand that really frustrates you?

Actually Americans don’t really know enough about New Zealand to take much for granted. The one thing people do know about us is what they have seen in Lord of the Rings. New Zealand is that beautiful, and that empty. (A country the size of Great Britain, but with only 4 million people in it) but it does have more than that. It’s something that you can’t explain, you have to come visit. (Honestly I am not working for Tourism New Zealand)
2 ) What’s next podcast wise after Digital Magic finishes it’s run?

It will be the anthology series set in the world of Geist. I am not quite sure how many people I will have involved in it, but I am hoping lots of other podcasters will be excited to join me in. I am looking forward to exploring the world.
3 ) When did you start writing and Why?  Do you remember that “1st” story?

I first started writing when I was about thirteen, and I guess I started because I was a voracious reader. I read all my Dad’s books and thought ‘I can do that’. My first book was a story about a woman haunted by some demonic creatures she could only see out of the corner of her eye. Which is interesting, because elements of that are in Geist.
4 ) Erotica Ala Carte got booted out of Itunes after the 1st Episode.  Did that fluster or flatter you?

I think that happened because itunes was clearing the literature category of anything sexual. I am not sure why (because itunes never communicate or respond) but it doesn’t seem to have effected the numbers of listeners. I was actually kind of impressed!

5 ) Why Erotica?

Why not? 🙂 Actually I did it because I was afraid of erotica. I think a writer should be always able to write what the story requires. Sex reveals a lot about the characters, and can be a plot point as well.  I didn’t like the fact that I was shutting the bedroom door all the time. So like a good, stubborn person I decided to face my fears. I’m pretty happy with the result.

6 ) How did you get into Podcasting?

Tee Morris. Enough said? 🙂
He was my colleague at DragonMoon Press and he was always banging on about the joy of podcasting- little did I know that it would be so addictive.
7 ) Why are New Zealanders called Kiwis?

Many people think it is the fruit, but it started long before NZ started growing them. It’s the bird- though why we nicknamed ourselves after a nocturnal, flightless bird I cannot say. I think it has something to do with World War I and regimental crests or some such.

8 ) Were you able to pull a deal with Ace like Sigler was able to do with Crown to allow you to podcast Geist and it’s sequel?

Unfortunately not. The anthology deal was the best we could do. I think publishing is slowly coming around to the idea, but it is still a work in progress. We’ll have to see how that pans out.
** Okay since some of the questions have more than one part technically this is more than 8 questions but meh…..

Bonus Questions – You don’t have to answer these but you can if you want.
b1 ) What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

I wouldn’t know, all our birds are flightless
b2 ) 42 is the answer but what is the question?

At what age does a man mature like a fine cheese
b3 ) If at first you don’t succeed _____________ (fill in the Blank)

If at first you don’t succeed keep podcasting

Pimp From Valhalla Preview

Rich:  Hey Odin didja hear about the crazy kiwi trying to auction off a sonic boom what the hell is up with that?

Odin:  No man you got it all wrong  it’s not like that at all.  What Pip Ballentine is trying to do is raise money for Tee Morris’s daughter, Sonic Boom.  Yeah it’s over at theboomefect.org.

Rich: Really let me go check that out… (Five checks of twitter, Skype and Facebook later Who hoo I found a lonely bull) DUDE!!!   Some chick in Austria is auctioning off Mozart’s Balls dipped in chocolate?

Odin:  That has to be some crazy Austrian let me check that out – What the heck is Marzipan?  And why would they be stuffing his balls with Marzipan.

Rich: Some kind of weird European embalming method?

Odin: I don’t’ know about you man but I have no desire to put a dead composers chocolate dippes sack in my mouth.  Look at that she has a proxy bid in already for $25

Rich: Considering how talented he was I’d figure they’d go for more.

Odin: Only if you were a very big fan, and I’m not going there.

Rich: Well you know that Napoleon’s Penis went for over two Million.  That’s a lot of scratch for Bonaparte’s Boner.

Odin: Look here’s a guy that wants Fans to lead the charge.

Rich: Get yourself a cheerleader… nah man I’ll pass I think Misty might get a little upset if I got myself a cheerleader.

Odin: Yeah I think my Lady Queen might have some issues with that as well.

Rich: Wait no it’s a cheerleader to lead the charge on the front lines.  Misty might be all for that.  Give me a B Give me a U Give me a L Give me a *POW* Oh wait I guess she didn’t mean a real bullet.

Odin: Backseat Producers Package?  Talking about your package in the back seat that’s a recipe for disaster.

Rich: What we don’t even rate a casting couch?  What are they driving around the neighborhood in a van with signs for Free Puppies, Free Candy, and Movie Production Critique?  They didn’t have Puppies!!

Odin: And the candy wasn’t even anything I wanted!

Rich: Yeah what’s the deal with the chunky bars… I know I’m a big guy but I won’t even touch that.  Raisins in candy… that’s just wrong.  Whoa! Hey some dude in Texas wants to strip us!

Odin:  If you’ve ever been to Texas you wouldn’t find that too unusual.  Man and he wants us to pay him to do it.

Rich: Your Very own Pocket Ninja?

Odin: Might want to keep that one in the shirt pocket, Especially if he gets kicky.

Rich: Yeah Ninja kicked in the junk doesn’t sound that appealing.  Yeah no ninjas near my nuts.

Odin: Neither with swords nor kicks nor knife hand strikes.

Odin: And Look here There’s a chance to become a Dead Robot.

Rich: What are they gonna do rebuild they have the technology to make us better than we were before better stronger faster more creative?

Odin: Well I could use a replacement eye.

Here’s another we go from Dead Robots to being made into Zombies.  If someone is gonna be biting on me I get to pick who it is.

Rich: Hmm undeath or bionics…

Odin: Yeah I’d go with the bionics every time.  It’s all fun and games until your ear rots off.

Rich: yeah that’s an awkward party moment, umm dude you left your ear in the guacamole… that’s not guacamole it’s brain dip!!  Oh hey look at this two losers are offering up two reviews in one packages.. how pathetic can you…

Odin: Umm Rich that’s us…

Rich: What… DAMMIT!!!

Time to Cry Wolf…well more like Wolfman

My wife the wonderful and sexy Misty aka @Tigerlilly11674 on Twitter actually had a Saturday that she didn’t have to babysit her sister’s kids.  We had ourselves a date.  Valentines weekend we decided to see a nice romantic movie… The Wolfman.  You guys may be looking at me oddly right now because of that statement, and if you are that scares me because you know exactly where I am…

Misty and I love werewolves, it’s one of the things that drew us closer when we met and were gaming together.  (Yes my wife is a gamer, we met because of Dungeons and Dragons so to all those people in HS that laughed at me and said I’d never get laid because of D&D I just have this to say THPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPTTTTTTT!!!!!! It netted me a wife and kids so there!!! – Now back to Wolfman.

We chose to go see Wolfman, no we were not thinking it was a romantic film we just both love werewolves and we figured that it’d be a while before we got to see another flick in the theaters because screaming children piss us off in theaters so were not going to drag our two year old to the theater who’s gonna scream her head off.  I may be an ass but I’m not that much of an ass.  Not even sure I’d take her to the drive in just yet… Anyways back to the movie again… We are always hoping that werewolf movies will have at least passable effects, a decent story, and a lot of action.  Wolfman does not fail to deliver.  Yeah I’ve heard people bitch about the Wereolf looking kinda like a Bison but it stays true to the orginal films monster, and that means it gets MAJOR props from me right there.

Wolfman does a great job of capturing elements from the original film and adding enough flavor for it to stand on its own.

The remake goes further back in time to about the time of Jack the Ripper instead of the more Modern original (and that alone gives it coolness points in my book usually the updated movie is moved forward in time as well.)

Granted I called a lot of the movie in advance, but I like horror movies, I’ve wanted to write them since I was a little older than the LDM (yes she’s only two I was exposed to horror movies very young, and yes that does explain a lot) but even the fact that I was able to “read ahead” in the film didn’t detract from it for me.  I was excited to see my guesses /instincts pan out.  Visually the movie was fantastic, it wasn’t an over CGIed flick that everything looks fake.  The transformations were very good, and the werewolf on werewolf battle in the end was damned good so good that I forgot I had to whiz for about an hour at that point.

Basic Plot in a nutshell – Actor goes home for the first time in a long time to investigate death of his brother at the late brother’s fiancees request.  All hell breaks loose.

I’d go into how excellent the cinematography and lighting and all that was but I don’t know jack about it, it was a kick ass flick, based off a kick as flick from the 40’s that didn’t make me wonder what the hell the studio was rethinking.  Gives me hope that maybe someday they can remake Captain Blood (which I actually think DelToro could pull off maybe hint hint hint…) and not make me cry.

All in all I went in with High expectation and hopes and praying that I wouldn’t cry.. the tears at the end of the movie were tears of joy.. okay and a little from the emotions drug up in the flick.  It totally blew my expectations away.  I got to see it for $5 – Kerasotes theaters have “Twilight” movies no they don’t inject suck ass sparkly flamer vamps but the last showing before 6 PM is only $5, cheaper than the regular matinee.  I’d gladly have paid twice the non matinee price for it, in fact I’m going to try to have a guys night out with my Father-In-Law to see it again and I’ll pay for us both.  And I’m a cheap ass…

Till next I post.. See ya on the other side and take it lite.

I’d like today to talk about homelessness.  In today’s economy I really don’t see this problem getting better any time soon In fact I fear that with jobs disappearing like they are I see this becoming much worse before it gets better.  It’s damned cold outside here in the Midwest and East Coast is under a ton of snow as well.  If you have an old coat or two that you can donate to a homeless shelter, even kids coats there are homeless children on the streets as well.  Maybe drop off a few cans of whatever is in the back of your pantry that you’ll never eat.

Check around your area and see if there’s any help you can give to a homeless shelter.  Couple hours in the soup kitchen, a couple old blankets, or coats.  Remember Donating to a cause doesn’t have to be money.  The sacrifice doesn’t have to be huge, but the difference it can make in somebody’s life can be more than you think.

8 Questions with Justin Macumber of the Dead Robots Society.

It’s Monday my friends and followers and stalkers.. (yeah you I noticed you back there with the live chicken and the weedhacker… sick freak… doesnt’ understand 500 yds… ) and we all know what that means – More bitching from Garfield.. No it means another round of 8 Questions. – Today we have Justin Macumber the creator and one of the original hosts of the Dead Robots Society that is still with the show.  Justin also had a short Story featured in Ray Gun Revival, and has podcasted that Story (now a Chapbook available from his website below) The Story is – The Ties that Bind a Tale of the Breaking Dawn – I Liked it a lot I recoment you go download it right now… I’ll wait… really.  He also has another Chapbook that he podcasted – The Pirates of the Crimson Sands – also available at his website (also well done in my not so humble opinion).  Justin is a fun and talented writer and host of the Dead robots Society, plus all around really great, friendly, and helpful guy.
On to the Interogatio.. er Interview… yeah Interview… (and for the record no Dead Robots were harmed during the making of this 8 Questions no matter what Justin says… )

1 ) What prompted you to create the DRS?

1. I had been listening to podcasts for a couple of years, and hearing so many normal individuals like me find a way to express themselves in a way that touched the lives of similar fans was empowering. I wasn’t sure what topic I was versed or passionate enough about to create a podcast around until I started listening to Mur Lafferty’s “I Should Be Writing” and Michael Stackpole’s “The Secrets” podcasts. Then it hit me – writing. I came up with the title Dead Robots’ Society pretty quickly after that, and the rest is history.
2 ) Are you guys ever gonna stop giving Ryan grief over the “Topless Street Crossing”?

2. Maybe, but we’ll never stop giving him grief about SOMETHING. I mean come on, the guy’s Canadian – he’s got it coming. So damn smug and superior…

3 ) How did you get into Podcasting?

3. After coming up with the name and the theme, I started hunting around for ideas on where to host the show, what sort of equipment I needed, software, and then I made an effort to find hosts who were like me – young(ish), aspiring, fun, and vocal. Getting hosting and a recording rig together were easy compared to finding the right people to host the show with me. We’ve gone through several over the two plus years we’ve done the show, and I’ve loved them all. Ryan, though, has been with me since the beginning, and I wish the guy lived closer so that we could be friends in the real world. I really like him, despite all the crap I give him. He’s good people. Terry started out as a listener and contest winner before we asked him to join us full time when some hosting chairs went empty, and it’s been the three of us for over a year now. We’ve had people ask to come on as hosts, and we’re talking about it, but the problem with it is that the more voices you have, the more difficult interviews and discussions become. If we were all in the same room it might be different, where we can see each other wanting to say something, but online we occasionally trip over each other and interrupt one another, and that gets worse the more people you have on. We’re talking about it though, so there might be more co-host changes in the future.

4 ) You had a four parter short story , I believe it was The Ties that Bind (loved the podcast version of it btw) printed in Ray Gun Revival, anything else coming in print in the near future?

4. I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve been able to have my stories do overtime work for me, appearing in more than one publication or website. “The Ties That Bind,” for example, was not only in Ray Gun Revival, but it also won Honorable Mention in the Writers Of The Future Contest, and I’ve self-published it for the Kindle, the iPhone, and in paperback form via CreateSpace. There’s also a free PDF version, all of which are available from my site (www.justinmacumber.com). Coming up I have a short story appearing in two publications at once. It’s called “Pirates of the Crimson Sands.” It was previously published in eMuse, but next up it will be appearing in the print version of Golden Visions Magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy, and soon after it will be in a print anthology of podcasted short stories called “No Subscription Necessary: Dark, Light & Twisted Tales from the Podosphere.” I’m incredibly proud of the success both of these short stories have had, and it’s proof positive that a story can get you a lot of mileage if you try hard enough.

5 ) When did you start writing and Why?  Do you remember that “1st” story?

5. I wish I could say that I’d been writing since my hand could hold a pencil, but that isn’t the case. As a kid I was more interested in drawing. I was never very good at it, but enough people encouraged me to keep at it that I made it my central artistic focus for more years than I should have. But, as a teenager I played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons, and one of my favorite things to do was to write the adventures my party would play through rather than use a store bought manual. I also dabbled a little in writing my own comic book, but I was more interested in the art side of it than the story, which I guess is why I eventually gave it up. In high school, though, I had two teachers who really took an interest in my writing, and who pushed me to do more of it. Because of them, and because of a little movie I saw called “The Dead Poets’ Society,” I shifted my attention from drawing to writing, and I’ve not looked back since.

6 ) Of the guests you’ve had on the show so far were there any that gave you that “HOLY CRAP we get to talk to _____!!!!111One One!” moment?

6. Oh sure. My first giddy interview came with Tracy Hickman. My childhood was filled with the stories that he and Margaret Weis wrote, and to this day I consider the man a master. So, when I got up the courage to ask him to be on our show, and he said yes, I nearly fell out of my seat. And then, when he was finally on the air with us, I really was just gobsmacked. Listening back to that show is painful, because I sound like such a fanboy sycophant. We’ve had Tracy on a couple of times since then, and the man is a pleasure to talk with. He’s gracious, he’s easy to talk to, he knows very much whereof he speaks, and he’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I feel incredibly fortunate that I can call him my friend. We’ve interviewed a lot of people, though, and I can’t say that a single one of them was ever rude or difficult. Doing this show, and speaking with these people, has reaffirmed my faith in the writing community. Now if only I could get Stephen King and Joss Whedon on the show… THEN you’d see real slobbering sycophancy.

(Editor Note – Really Who wouldn’t?)

7 ) Seriously the first thing you noticed about PG was Tiny Feet?

7. Have you seen his feet?! They’re tiny! Like a doll’s feet! When I met him he seemed so normal, but as soon as my eyes went to the floor and I saw those nubs for feet, I was amazed. Luckily the guy has enough intellect and charm to draw your attention away from it. And, I must say, the guy is damn handsome. Ladies, don’t let his small feet turn you away. I’m sure that isn’t an indicator of anything else.

8 ) Have there been any guests that you’ve been trying to get on the show but just haven’e been able to synch schedules?

8. Not really. For awhile getting Scott Sigler on the podcast seemed like some kind of cruel snipe hunt, but eventually we brought that beast to ground and wrangled him kicking and screaming onto the show. Everyone else, though, came on without too much difficulty. I’d like to have Michael Moorcock on, and he said he’d do it, but we have to wait for his schedule to clear up in the next couple of months. His Elric books were nearly as influential to me in my youth as Tracy Hickman was, so having him on will be wonderful. Might even be able to get PG to come out of retirement for that.

**Okay since some of the questions have more than one part technically this is more than 8 questions but meh…..

Bonus Questions – You don’t have to answer these but you can if you want.
b1 ) What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

b1. An African or European swallow? And really, isn’t that kind of racist?

b2 ) 42 is the answer but what is the question?

b2. The pants size I’d like to get back down to one day. Or the meaning of life. Your choice.

b3 ) If at first you don’t succeed _____________ (fill in the Blank)

b3. If at first you don’t succeed, give up and figure something else out for you life, because obviously that wasn’t it.

Making the Cut – Ironically Yes it Did… And so much More

This Weeks Pimpage is going out to Metamor City and it’s Author Chris Lester.

Lets get Links out of the way

Metamor City- http://www.metamorcity.com/

Chris on Twitter – @etherius

Don’t recall where I heard my first promo for Metamor City, I want to say I think it was from Dragon’s Landing Inn Gaming Podcast, but it intrigued me because the promo I hear called it Spellpunk.

I checked it out and the first couple short stories got me hooked.  Then came Making the Cut – The First Metamor City novel.

First off the world of Metamor City is just a exiting colorful Urban Fantasy landscape that is engrossing and immersive.  Chris does a hell of a job painting a world that is very ominous yet awe inspiring, not knowing whether the next corner turned is going to bring wonder or danger.  It’s got plenty of action and intrigue to get you hooked fast and keep you hooked.  The cast is excellent, and very well chosen.  It took me half the damn book to realize that two of my favorite characters were voiced by the same guy.  Not that it was hard once I sat back and actually looked (well listened) at it but the story did a good job of distracting me enough not to notice.  I will say I think we need more Artax in the stories but that’s just because Artax freaking rocks.

The story follows Daniel Sharabi member of the Psi Collective that isn’t powerful enough to matter to the powers that be among the Collective, and the lengths he’ll go to to be with the woman he loves, and the consequences of those actions, some kinda funny, some kinda dark.  I found some scenes to be uncomfortable and awkward to listen to, but that’s because of my morality trying to impose itself on the work.

This is not a happy kitty fun ride by any stretch of the imagination, as a warning I’m letting you know there is some sex, a good deal of violence, and some really fucked up scenes looking through the eyes of a psychopath (but don’t let that put you off you may sleep funny after certain scenes but it’s well worth the weird dreams).  If you don’t have earphones, don’t listen at work or around kids.  The release schedule was rough in places but seeing as he moved halfway across the country to accept a teaching gig during the process, it’s a wonder that things managed to stay running as smoothly as it did.  It got kinda annoying during the cliffhangers when that happened (but I kept listening anyway and I’m easily di… hey a shiny!!!!) but you get to DL it straight and listen straight through.  This was rough one to have to wait for but that’s because it was that good.  I found myself putting a couple episodes off at a time so I could have larger chunks of the story at one time.

All in all an enjoyable experience.

Would I listen again… YES!!!…. even if I had to do it to the same schedule… YES!!!  It’s a hell of a story, it’s a wonderful beautiful scary world that Chris is describing for us and the thing I like best about it is it isn’t a perfect world, you see the decay the corruption and that just draws you closer in.  Remember kiddies have your charms and amulets handy because the city does bear a curse, and once you get sucked in, it’s all the protection you have.

The original idea behind Random Pimpage and 8 Questions stems from the Behind the 8 Podcast that I’ve been wanting to start up for a couple of years now.  With the new laptop here and an H2 on the way it looks like it may become a reality sooner than I expected.  I’m going to take advice from some of the greats out there and not post the first one until I have a buffer of at least 4 or 5 finished podcasts ready for post.  I’m always willing to learn more about Podcasting from those that have made it great.

Behind the 8 is gonna be a lot like a long form of following me on twitter.  It’s gonna be filled with Rich’s Rants, Pimpage, 8 Questions and life lessons learned from a life spent living behind the 8 Ball all with a healthy dose of the mad viking’s humor and sarcasm and hopefully it will be just as entertaining.  One feature that I wanted to do has been Two Fat Guys on a Couch Media Review – Reviews for the rest of us.  I just need to find another fat guy to help out with that feature.

If you’d be interested in the podcast leave a comment.  If you think i suck and that you’d rather stuff your ears with fire ants coated in flesh eating bacteria than listen to me… well you can piss up a rope but leave a comment first.  Advice?  Offers of help?  Willingness to be a guest or interviewee, again please leave a comment

Tuesday’s Worthy Causes

Right Now there are 2 Worthy causes that come to mind here in our own podcasting community that is the Legal Defense Fund to Help SVAllie with her legal costs from her custody battle to keep the EP (Her daughter the Elf Princess) with her and the Trust for Sonic Boom (SB is Tee Morris’s daughter and just a couple weeks ago tragedy struck taking Tee’s Wife Natalie suddenly but you knew that already right?  If not how the heck do you know about me and not Tee?) / The Boom Effect.  Links provided below.

Help out if you can if not with a few $$$ with some encouragement, prayer, or time.

One thing we take for granted being writers and readers that we are is Literacy.  Take a moment and check out Adult Literacy Programs in your area and see if you can help.  Also doesn’t’ hurt to see if there are any programs you can help out with that help children so they don’t have to struggle with adult literacy issues of their own.  Reading is something we take for granted every day.  Someone in my life is illiterate, and he’s struggling to find a job in this economy because of it but he’s too proud to ask for help.

Here’s a page for The National Institute for Literacy, a federal agency, which provides leadership on literacy issues, including the improvement of reading instruction for children, youth, and adults. http://www.nifl.gov/ Check it out if you have time.

Hit me up at rasplundjr@gmail.com with the Subject Tuesday Cause if you have a cause you want / need me to pimp.  There are plenty of people out there that need a hand, not just a hand out.  See who you can help today.

Thanks for your time today.
God Bless – If God isn’t your thing then well it’s still mine but Positive thoughts your way still.
